  1. GEM v3.0 - v3.1 Driver Installation Instructions
  2. See the SpeedSTAR-24 Manual for detailed installation information.

  5. [1] ... Make a diskcopy of GEM System Master Disk (v3.0), or the Master
  6.     Disk (v3.1). This copy will be used in place of the original during 
  7.     installation.  Copy the setup file information (GEMSETUP.V30 or 
  8.     GEMSETUP.V31) to the new disk. 
  9.     (ie. COPY C:\SS24\GEM\GEMSETUP.V30 B:GEMSETUP.TXT)

  11. [2] ... Format a  blank disk in Drive A: by typing:   C:FORMAT A: /V
  12.  
  13. [3] ... When prompted for the Volume label, enter: GEM SCREEN2 <Enter>
  14.  
  15. [4] ... Copy the following files from GEM/3 Screen Disk #2 to the newly
  16.     formatted disk (both v3.0 and v3.1).  The following examples assume
  17.     GEM Disk #2 to be drive A: and the new disk to be in Drive A:

  19.        COPY A:GEMVDI.EXE B: <Enter>
  20.        COPY A:MDGEM?.SYS B: <Enter>

  22. [6] ... Copy the SpeedSTAR-24 screen drivers to the newly formatted disk
  23.     by typing:  COPY C:\SS24\GEM\SD*.VGA B:

  25. [7] ... Install GEM as instructed in the GEM manual using IBM 16-color
  26.     VGA for PS/2 (640x480) as the video driver.  Verify operation of GEM.
  27.  
  28. [8] ... Reinsert the GEM System Master and use GEMPREP to select the 
  29.     SpeedSTAR option for 800x600 or 1024x768.
